Project Hammerfall®: Driver for Mac OS 9.x®
»Mac OS Overview
RME's Mac driver for the Hammerfall offers full ASIO performance and includes lots of convincing features, from an easy to explore settings dialog up to sample-accurate sync via ASIO 2.
The Hammerfall driver is a pure ASIO 2.0 driver with exceptional performance. The configuration of DIGI96 series and Hammerfall is done through the same Settings dialog, which handles up to 4 cards of both series.
Driver version 1.61 is the latest release. (01/08/2003)
Detailed Information about installation and soft- and hardware compatibility can be found here.
Hammerfall Settings Dialog
The clear structured, easy to understand
window plus the unique informative status windows for input signal,
clock mode, sample rate and time code make your work with Project
Hammerfall to a real pleasure. With a simple mouse click you will
gain access to the full power of your card.
When working with several digital sources it is not only necessary that these
are all properly locked, they also have to be totally synchronized. Else drop
outs and crackling occurs. RME's exclusive SyncCheck checks all input signals
and displays their actual state.
A display of the time code at the ADAT Sync-In port offers a quick check of
the communication between external device and Hammerfall. |

ASIO 2.0 Support
The DIGI9636/52 includes ASIO Direct Monitoring as part of the ASIO 2.0
standard. Please note that neither routing nor pan are supported. Therefore
at activated ADM and active monitoring the input signal will only be routed
to the same output channel. Other settings in VST's mixer have no effect.
Special Hardware Version
Thanks to its 'ASIO in hardware' design the Hammerfall series offers the
highest possible performance. To maintain this also on the Mac we designed
a special hardware version which sorts the data bits in the way the Mac
needs it. Normally the Mac's processor performs the conversion between little
and big endian format. But this would obviously require additional CPU actions,
eliminating the desired 0% CPU load operation. The Mac version can be identified
by the label 'M52' (Mac 9652) or 'M36' (Mac 9636) on the card's EPROM.
